As is true of some of my favorite paintings, this scene was found completely by accident. There is no way that I could have timed the perfect colors in the trees, shadows on the lower part of the tree and foreground so that the sunlit top of the tree would be glowing and reflecting in the still water below. The title usually gives away what I was thinking. In this case, the warm light was bouncing off the river and onto the rocks and bushes in the shadows. However,” bouncing light” was not a very poetic title.
