The Smell of Hay, Meeker, Colorado
There is something about the smell of hay that brings me back 40 years. In a good year, the ranchers will get two, maybe three cuts. I was attracted to these hay bales because of it’s tufted loose ends. It must have been harvested by a old tractor, because modern implements wrap the bales tightly in fabric that are much less attractive and interesting. When you see bales like this, you have to be quick to record them because they usually cut the hay one day, bale it the next and by the end of the week it is picked up and stacked.
