September Snow, Maroon Bells
30″ x 40″ | Oil on canvas | Private Collection
Maroon Bells, Colorado
A few years ago, it was late September when the aspen colors are at their prime. I heard on the news that the mountains got about a foot of snow. I imagined what that would look like at Maroon Bells. I drove straight up there and this is what I found. The next day the skies were cobalt blue like a normal fall Colorado day, but there was a heavy blanket of fresh snow. Have not seen it like this before or since.
