Logan Pass, Montana
This is a well known lake in Glacier National Park. It is about a two mile hike from the top of Logan Pass. While I was painting the field study for this painting, mountain goats came closer and closer until I could have reached out and touched them. I was trying to capture the illusion of distance and depth. The challenge is that in fall the humidity is very low, and at high altitude, the air is very thin so the mountains feel much closer than they really are.
