Cliffs of the Green River
18″ x 24″ | Oil on canvas | Quest for the West, Eiteljorg Museum
Green River, Wyoming
If you are a fan of western art history, you probably recognize this view of the Green River that Thomas Moran painted repeatedly. I wanted to take a stab at it and upon arrival in the town of Green River I stopped in at the Museum there and asked where Moran’s views were from. After a long chat, I had to get out the door to catch the evening light. It was a clear afternoon that provided ideal lighting and a view that did not need to be modified too much.
